Robert B. Seaberg, Ph.D.

Having retired as Managing Director and Head of Wealth Advisory Solutions after eighteen years at Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms, Smith Barney and Citi Smith Barney, Bob now serves as President of his own consulting firm. Intersect Consulting LLC advises financial services firms and financial advisors as well as non-profit boards, executive and philanthropists, focusing on exploring the points where lines of thought cut across one another as well as spaces where disciplines meet and overlap. For wealth managers, those points and spaces involve the intersection of relational arts and behavioral finance with traditional aspects of investment management and legacy planning. In philanthropy, Intersect focuses on the connections among fundraising, especially major and planned gifts, governance and strategic planning.

Over thirty years in the financial services industry, as financial advisor, professional development executive, strategic marketing professional and director of financial and wealth planning, Bob has achieved a distinguished reputation for delivering lively and reflective client presentations and high caliber professional development programs to industry professionals. Bob is a popular speaker for high net worth individuals, professional associations and charitable institutions on issues related to wealth planning, legacy planning and risk management; and offers professional development presentations on the future of wealth management, behavioral finance and the relational arts. He has published articles in the Journal of Financial Planning and On Wall Street, and has been quoted in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Dow Jones Asset Management, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, Robb Report Worth magazine and Investment News, among others.

Bob currently serves as a Board member of the Morgan Stanley Global Impact Funding Trust and as Class of 1969 Gift Agent and President’s Club Agent for Colgate University and also serves on the Executive Committee of the Colgate Alumni Council. In addition, Bob has served as a member of the Advisory Council of the Investment Management Consultant’s Association (IMCA).

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colgate University and recipient of the Ph.D. with distinction from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University, Bob was a college professor specializing in legal history and an award-winning essayist before entering the field of financial services.
